Sodbusters Blank Whiskey Jacks 10-0
HASTINGS, Neb. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks have lost their seventh straight game Friday, falling 10-0 to the Hastings Sodbusters in seven innings.
Sodbusters right fielder Matt Halbach had a historic night at the plate, tripling twice in his 3-for-4 performance. Second baseman Cole Dawson doubled in his second consecutive game, finishing 2-for-3 with his 20th and 21st RBI of the season. Designated hitter Jacob Shaw finished 1-for-3 with three RBI and his first stolen base of the season. Whiskey Jacks second baseman Nolan Lingley, right fielder Jake Hjelle, and left fielder Nolan Drill collected one hit a piece.
Sodbusters pitcher Treyton Scully (3-4, 5.81 ERA) collected the win, pitching a complete-game three-hit shutout Friday, striking out seven batters. Whiskey Jacks pitcher Jake Anderson (2-7, 7.78 ERA) was assigned the loss, pitching three innings on nine runs (six earned), allowing eight hits, and walking three batters. Pitcher Jackson Harbin (0-1, 4.62 ERA) pitched three innings in relief, allowing one run (earned).
The Whiskey Jacks (21-35) will face off against Hastings (20-37) for the second of the three game series Saturday.
