WEST VIRGINIA'S TOP 10 HOCKEY TEAM!!!!!!
The West Virginia University Hockey Club had already entered the Top 5 in the National Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Rankings last week. Today, they entered the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s (ACHA) Atlantic Region rankings at #10 based on the strength of their 7-5-1 record. The ranking was awarded based in no small part on the team’s strength of schedule and performance in those games. This is a major development considering the early season adversity the team had to endure. The injuries the team endured early on caused depth issues but allowed for young players to develop and be ready for prime roles once the team was healthy again. The team is growing accustomed to its growing reputation as the premiere hockey team on campus and the players take pride in being able to give Morgantown a winning hockey team. The club’s focus continues to be the on ice product and the continued development of its members. As the winning reputation of the team continues to grow around town, the team will continue to work to improve its national ranking in the 2 national conferences it represents. Congrats to Head Coach Cole Warner, who has successfully navigated the obstacles thrown in the team’s path while establishing himself as the polarizing leader a team at this level requires in his first season in this role. Teams will naturally take on their head coach’s personality and character. Simply put, winners will win, losers will lose. Also congratulations to Matt Strober, Brian Dickman, and Ben Monroe who have proven that true leadership will always drive success.
Come out and support the best hockey you’ll see in Morgantown this Saturday when the boys host Youngstown St. at 9:30 PM. Come cheer on the winners in town!
