ALASKA 2021

2020 SUMMER

HF VERIFICATION DAY RESULTS

The HF Summer Verification Day was a huge success for the organization in terms of getting quantifiable data for over 150 players in the organization.  Players showed their best stuff and took a step forward by learning about this process, which will undoubtedly help players prepare to "showcase" their skills.  Though this does not evaluate who is fundamentally a good baseball player, it does give metrics for strengths and areas that need improvement.

Please read below for a list of anonymous results by grade level.  The chart at the top is a list of averages for each grade.  Players will receive an email to indicate what "#" they are so they can see their own specific metrics for each category.  This also allows players to look at how they line up with players in their grade level.

Jimmy Meuel collected target colleges from the Upper Division players who attended and we will be sending complete data to those schools as well as other colleges that were not mentioned.  This list came out to over 100 colleges!  Many players will undoubtedly be contacted by colleges but we encourage players to use this data as a tool when they reach out to the schools they want to build a relationship with.

HF Verification Day

The 2020 Summer was projected to be a time where many players planned on advancing their careers toward the goal of college baseball.  The traditional process, including “college showcasing,” has been restricted.  Players and teams have not been allowed to gather in large groups and college coaches have been restricted by the NCAA “dead period” all summer (which means they are not even allowed to go and see players).  However, this does NOT mean college recruiting has stopped or even paused.  “HF VERIFICATION DAY” is a concept that college coaches are excited about as they will receive analytics for HF players.  This gives a recruiting advantage as coaches need this information more than ever before so they know who to follow closely when restrictions are lifted. This means you will be taking a step ahead while the majority of players out there (non-HF) will not have such an opportunity!

OVERVIEW:

The verification concept is not a new one and it is one that families place value in already across the country.  We have a high talent college recruit in HF who recently attended one such event.  The cost was around $2-300 and that was for only one position (meaning he did not pitch, even though he was the best arm there, as it would be an additional cost to do both bat and pitch).  The cost was for his information to be entered into a data base for colleges to access.  We will be going several steps further, including sending the information out to over 50 college programs.  We will also ask each player for 3-5 colleges that they want their information sent to and we will send to those specific schools.  A goal of this event is to connect players and colleges.

WHAT:

Players will participate in “showcase style” testing in order for HF to record the data.  Areas of focus include INF velocity, OF velocity, Catching velocity, Batting exit speed and Pitching velocities.  HF has purchased the newest Stalker gun (same used at the professional levels) that is the only of it’s quality to record spin rate of pitches (a new and very important metric for recruiting).  We are also working to get a Rapsodo device to gather even more advanced analytics.  These numbers will be “true” and not the faulty, untrusted recordings that come with lesser instruments.  At a minimum, players will leave with verified numbers that they can work hard to improve upon over time.

WHERE:

The HF Academy is the ideal location to record these numbers since it is a controlled environment.  This will allow us to have small groups of 12 with high focus on each player.

WHEN:

Saturday, July 25.  Defined 1.5 hour time slots will be assigned to each player attending (you will choose your slot).  PLAYERS MUST RSVP IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED (If you cannot make that day you need to reply immediately for a possible alternative)

HOW:

1 - RSVP with Mario Iglesias (mario74iglesias@aol.com) by Friday, July 17

2 – Receive a time slot the week of the event

3 – Reconfirm your time slot through the “Sign Up Genius” link – (Coming Soon)

4 – Prepare to bring your best game that day!

* THIS EVENT WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF ONE OF THE TWO COLLEGE RECRUITING EVENTS THAT WERE SCHEDULED FOR YOUR TEAM.

2019 HF FALL COLLEGE SHOWCASE CAMP

(October 13 @ Ohlone College)

A huge advantage of playing with Headfirst Baseball is that we are very well connected with college baseball.  Though the process of playing in college is NOT a simple, efficient or convenient one, HF understands what it takes for you as a player.  This includes exposure, with you playing in front of college coaches and beginning a relationship with the recruiters/schools (keeping in mind that it is VERY common in college baseball for coaches to switch schools).  For this reason, we began running Headfirst Showcases many years ago, where we bring the schools to you!  Read below for details about our 2019 Fall Showcase Camp...

HF Summer Team Camp Games

1 - Pitchers will face 5 hitters per inning
2 - Games will be a full 9 innings

4 - Pitchers will throw a max of 2 innings per day (assuming they are there both days)
5 - We will have the standard showcase count of "0-1" with first pitch fastballs to all hitters, eliminating any advantage both ways.
