Epic Hockey

TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. All games will be governed by the rules set out in the current Hockey Canada Referee's Case Book/ Rule Combination.
  2. All players participating in an Epic Hockey Tournaments event will be required to complete and submit a waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian if under the age of eighteen (18).
  3. To be eligible to participate in this tournament players must be listed on the roster and must be presented to the Tournament Director prior to the team's first game.
  4. All participants must have a birth certificate available upon request from Tournament Director or could receive possible suspension from play.
  5. Teams must arrive one (1) hour prior to the first game and be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their games.
  6. All protests or disputes will be presented to the Tournament Director and their decision will be considered final.
  7. Referee's decision is FINAL.  No protests/appeals will be heard on a Referee's call.
  8. Body Checking will follow Hockey Canada Rules and age levels.
  9. All Hockey Canada Rules regarding protective equipment will be enforced.  This includes and not limited to BNQ neck protectors, chin/mask straps and mouth guards.
  10. Teams are to vacate the assigned dressing rooms within 20 minutes following the end of their game.
  11. Affiliate Players (AP) will be permitted upon approval of the Tournament Director and may only participate in Semi Final and Final Games if they have played at least one (1) Round Robin game.
  12. Teams shall wear jerseys with non-conflicting colours or patterns.  If a conflict shall arise the home team will be required to the change the jerseys.
  13. Teams are required to shake hands before the game.
  14. Tournament is played in a Round Robin format where each team plays four (4) games.
  15. Novice and Atom Level 10-10-10 stop time periods
  16. Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget 12-12-12 stop time periods
  17. Warm up is limited to 3 minutes
  18. Time outs are NOT permitted during the course of any game.
  19. Teams will play three (3) games to determine rankings for Tournament Play Off Round.
  20. Preliminary Round Robin points allocation     2 points for each game won, 1 point for each game tied, 0 points for each game lost

  23. Mercy Rule: Whenever a 5-goal spread occurs in the 3rd period, run time will ensure.  If the goal spread becomes 3 goals or less, the game clock will follow stop time.
  24. Any Player or Team Official who receives a Major Penalty and Game Misconduct, Gross Misconduct  or Match Penalty will be removed from further participation from the tournament.
  25. It is the responsibility of the registered Team, Player, Team Officials and Guests to conduct their actions in a respectful manner on and off the ice.  Violation of this rule could result in removal from participation.

TIE BREAKERS FOR PRELIMINARY ROUND RANKINGS

  1. Best win/loss record in division
  2. Head to Head game result
  3. Goals For divided by Goals Against  - Highest result moves on
  4. Fewest number of penalty minutes
  5. Head to Head first goal
  6. Fastest goal scored in first game of tournament

OVERTIME - PLAY OFF ROUND ONLY

  • Sudden Victory for all overtime periods
  • No Time outs are permitted
  • There will be no change of ends after regulation time has expired
  • Penalties and suspensions carry over to all subsequent overtime periods
  • Five (5) minute stop time overtime period full strength
  • If still tied games will be decided by Shoot-out

 

SHOOT-OUT RULES

  • First Round will be best of three(3) shooters alternating shots by each team
  • Home Team will be the first team to shoot
  • If tied after three (3) shooters – Each team will have a chance to score in each single round
  • If one (1) team scores and the other doesn’t in that round game will be decided
  • Puck must remain in motion during each shoot- out chance or play will be forfeited
  • Player can attempt shoot-out at any speed and from any angle except from behind red end zone line
  • Trick Shots and Lacrosse Style moves are permitted
  • No rebounds or second chances will be permitted
  • Puck will be considered in play until referee signals goal or no goal
  • Teams will remain on bench during the shoot-out until referee signals otherwise
