Bobcats 4, Rockets 1
Thomas Dunn and Corey Kennedy each had two points and goalie Jordan Severo stopped 28 of 29 shots in the New York Bobcats 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Rockets on Tuesday night at the Twin Rinks at Eisenhower Park.
Kennedy scored the lone goal in the first period, which was his fourth of the season, after throwing the loss puck on net and banking it off a Rockets defenseman.
Severo was solid in the first frame as well, stopping all 10 shots -- including one breakaway -- that came his way.
The Rockets were able to get that one back halfway through the second. Chris Gambardella hit A.J. Drobot with a homerun pass at the Bobcats blue line. He broke in on Severo and slipped it through his five hole to tie the game, 1-1.
New York, however, erupted in the third period with three unanswered goals. CJ Totillo started it off with his seventh tally of the season just 31-seconds in on the power play. Cullen Chin then put the Bobcats up 3-1 on his second of the campaign shortly after. Dunn then sealed the victory with an empty netter.
Severo picked up his fourth win of the season after making 28 saves, with one of them coming on a penalty shot from Gamabrdella. Rockets netminder Stephen East was solid in net stopping 32 shots.
New York moves to 8-4-1-1 on the season, and will travel to Hartford this Sunday to take on the Wolfpack at 12:40 PM.
