Volunteering
ALL coaches and on-ice volunteers MUST be registered with USA Hockey, ASHA and the Steel City Icebergs (using the online Volunteer Registration for adults or youth). All coaches and on-ice volunteers who are 18 years of age or older must also have the following clearances: Mid-Am, PA State Police Criminal History, and Child Abuse. These can be completed online. In addition, all coaches and on-ice volunteers who are 18 years of age and older need a fingerprint based FBI Criminal History clearance. NOTE: Volunteers who are not required to obtain the FBI certification because they are applying for an unpaid position and have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years must swear or affirm in writing that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under §6344.
All off-ice volunteers, please register with the Steel City Icebergs using the online Volunteer Registration for adults or youth. You will not have the registration and clearance requirements listed for coaches and on-ice volunteers, unless you are over 18 years of age and directly working with children. For more information on whether you are exempt from these requirements, please read Keep Kids Safe: Volunteer FAQs.
