Tournament Rules
Player Movement:
- Players are not permitted to play on multiple teams.
- Player(s) who is caught playing on multiple teams is considered an Illegal Player.
- Illegal player(s) will be ejected from the tournament.
- Team(s) caught playing with an illegal player(s) will receive an automatic 5-0 forfeited loss.
CHL Rule:
- Players with 10 or more regular season or playoff games in the CHL (OHL, QMJHL, and WHL) are not permitted to play in the tournament.
- Players with 9 or less games played in the CHL are permitted to play in the tournament.
- Player(s) with 10 or more CHL games experience is considered an illegal player.
- Illegal player(s) will be ejected from the tournament.
- Team(s) caught playing with an illegal player(s) will receive an automatic 5-0 forfeited loss.
NCAA Rule:
- Division 1 players are not permitted to play in the TEP Tournament.
- Division 3 players are eligible.
Rosters:
- Teams must submit a final roster prior to their first game.
- Player(s) cannot be added to a roster after their first game.
- Player(s) must participate in a minimum of (1) round robin game in order to be eligible for the playoffs.
- Player(s) caught playing in the playoffs without a minimum of (1) round robin game is considered an illegal player.
- Team(s) caught playing with an illegal player(s) in the playoffs will receive an automatic 5-0 forfeited loss.
- A maximum of 25 players are allowed per team roster.
- A maximum of 20 players (including goalies) are allowed to be dressed per game.
Helmet Rule:
- Players must wear a full cage or full visor.
- Half visors are not permitted.
- Neck guards are mandatory for all players participating.
Game Ejection:
- Should a referee deem it necessary, a game ejection penalty can be assessed which only removes the player from the remainder of that particular game. This can be called at any time and for any reason that the referee see's fit.
Jersey Conflict:
- In the event of a jersey conflict the home team must change jerseys.
- In the event of a jersey conflict in the playoff rounds or championship game, the lowest seed team after the round robin must change jerseys.
Fighting Major:
- Player(s) given a fighting major will be ejected from the tournament.
Head Shot Penalty:
- A minor head shot penalty will result in a 2 or 4 minute penalty.
- A major head shot penalty will result in a 5 minute penalty plus a game misconduct.
Mercy Rule:
- Run time after a 5 goal spread within the last 12 minutes of the games.
- If goal spread reduces to 3 goals, time will stop
Timeout Rule:
- Each team is granted (1) 30 second timeout per game.
Appeal Process:
- Only infractions that carry a suspension can be appealed.
- Step 1: Coach to notify tournament officials.
- Step 2: Pay a $250 deposit for appeal.
- Step 3: Tournament officials (Includes: Andre Darlow, Geoff Hodgkinson and Head Official Scott Gray) will review the video footage and determine whether the suspension will be upheld.
- Step 4: If the suspension is overturned, the $250 deposit will be returned to the team. If the suspension is upheld, the $250 fee will be donated to a charity.
Tournament Format
Round Robin Game Length:
- 3 minute warm-up
- 1st period, 12 minutes
- 2nd period,15 minutes
- 3rd period, 15 minutes
Tiebreaker Format:
- Total Points
- Wins
- Head to Head
- Goals For Minus Goals Against (Highest number advances)
- Lowest Goals Against
- Highest Goals For
- Coin Flip
Playoff Seeding - Elite Division:
- The top 2 teams from each division will move onto Sunday.
- Next Top 4 Wildcards will also advance to Sunday
- Teams will be seeded 1 through 16.
- Top 16 teams will play in a round of 16
- Winners will continue into a Qtr., Semi & Final
- See tiebreaker format for seeding format.
Playoff Seeding - Prospects Division:
- The top 3 teams from each division will move onto Sunday.
- Teams will be seeded 1 through 12
- Top 4 Teams in each division will receive a bye into the Qtr. Finals
- Seeds 5 through 12 will play in a round of 12
- Winners will continue into a Qtr., Semi & Final.

Round of 16 & Round of 12, Qtr.’s, Semis & Finals
- 2 x 15-minute stop time periods. (3 Minute Warmup)
- Flood before the game.
- Overtime Format: 5 minutes stop time 3 on 3. Should the game remain tied after overtime, a shootout will take place. (3) shooters per side. If tied after 3 rounds, sudden death shootout will follow. Each team must choose (3) separate players for the first shootout round only. If the shootout goes to sudden death, each team can use the same player over and over again until a winner has been determined.
Championship Game:
- 2 x 15-minutes stop time periods. (3 minute warmup)
- Flood before the game
- Overtime Format: 5 minutes running time 3 on 3, followed by 5 minutes running time 2 on 2, followed by unlimited running time 1 on 1 until a winner is determined. Notes, players can only change on the fly.
