HUNTERSVILLE, NC (April 2, 2017) - The Mississippi RiverKings and Evansville Thunderbolts combined on Sunday to play the first penalty-free game in SPHL history. The RiverKings won the game, 4-2.

The previous low for penalty minutes in a game by both teams was two. The record was originally set by Fayetteville (2) and Huntsville (0) on November 11, 2012 and equalled by Fayetteville (2) and Columbus (0) on December 12, 2015.

Mississippi and Evansville also became the 9th and 10th teams to have zero penalty minutes in an SPHL game. The Jacksonville Barracudas were the first team to accomplish the feat when they stayed out of the penalty box against Fayetteville on January 1, 2005.
