
WINDSOR STARS ARE BASEBALL CANADA GOLD MEDALISTS
The Windsor Stars overcame all obstacles to come out on top of the Canadian Senior Men's rankings on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over B.C.
An Illegal bat controversy, a tie-breaker quarter-final game. a 10-inning marathon against Baseball Ontario Eliminations winner Mississauga SW Twins, and then the tight Gold Medal win over B.C. at the Baseball Canada Senior Men's Championships in Windsor, Ontario. None of those obstacles could stop the gritty host Windsor Stars.
Zack Breault who was a pickup from rival Tecumseh Thunder got the pitching win in the Gold Medal game. Breault pitched four innings in relief of starter John Picco. Tom Grubb was the offensive star with a double and a home-run.
The Mississauga SW Twins won the Bronze Medal by defeating Manitoba 10-6. James Byrnes got the pitching win and Sean Bignall hit for the cycle picking up four RBIs.
