EAST MEADOW, New York – The New York Bobcats are proud to announce that forward Carlos Ross has committed to play and attend school and Western New England University beginning in the fall of 2015.

Ross, 21, is the second Bobcat to commit to WNE this year along with fellow teammates David Kleyman and CJ Totillo.

“I had been talking with [Assistant] Coach Beaudoin and ended up going for a couple visits. I really love the opportunity that I will have to excel in my education and professional fields, as well on the ice,” said Ross. “There are a lot of freshman coming in and I believe we can do something special at Western New England during our four years.”

Ross, who is currently in his second season with New York, is third on the Bobcats in points with 37 and his 28 assists are second most on the club.

“[WNE] is a beautiful campus and I can't wait to get there next August. I would like to thank my parents, all of my teammates and the Bobcats for getting me to the point where I am now on and off the ice,” Ross added.

The Brockport, N.Y native played in 42 games last year for the Bobcats and registered eight goals and nine assists for 17 points.

“I came to the Bobcats eager to play juniors and hopefully NCAA.  Now I finally will have the opportunity and it is dream come true to play college hockey. I cannot thank the Bobcats organization enough for what they have done for me,” Ross said.

Western New England University is located in Springfield, Mass. and currently competed at the NCAA-III level in the ECAC Northeast.

“We are extremely happy for Carlos and the Ross family. Carlos came to us last year eager to develop and move onto the NCAA level. Over the course of the last 24 months or so, he has really developed into a complete hockey player. He has worked extremely hard to polish the offensive side of his game, said head coach and general manager, Craig Doremus.

“Last year Carlos was our “Band-Aid” guy, that is to say we would put him with whatever line was struggling because he made everyone around him better. This year he established himself as a go to guy starting way back in the EHL showcase in May and has continued to grow and develop as a leader on and off the ice. Western New England is getting a very good hockey player and even better person.”

The New York Bobcats wish Carlos and his family all the best on this wonderful accomplishment.
