The Ocean State Waves beat the Plymouth Pilgrims 5-4 in extra innings last night in Plymouth after Mike Alescio's 10th inning home run and Randell Kanemaru's RBI single.

The Waves struck first in the top of the second when Kanemaru would score on an RBI double from Dylan Resk.  Resk finished the game 2-5 with an RBI.

It was not until the fifth inning that the Pilgrims would push across a run.  Patrick Dorrian came into score on an RBI double from Plymouth's leadoff hitter, Liam Scafarielo.  That would be the only run that Waves starter Andrew Politi would allow.  Politi's final line was five innings pitched, four hits, one run, one walk, and five strikeouts.  After five the game was knotted at one.

Ocean State pushed across another run in the seventh when Kyle Conger scored on a pass ball that got by the Plymouth catcher, James Venuto.  The Waves had a 2-1 advantage entering the bottom of the seventh.

The Pilgrims would tie and take the lead in the seventh.  Dorrian and Scafariello would score in the inning and Plymouth took their first lead of the ballgame, leading 3-2.

In the eighth the Waves would tie the game up at three.  Bobby Honeymann came into score for Ocean State on an error made by Plymouth's third baseman, Tyler Wyatt.  No team would score in the ninth and the game would head into extras evened at 3.

Alescio would lead things off in the top of the tenth.  Alescio was previously 0-4 coming into the at-bat with three strikeouts.  That would quickly change when he launched a home run to deep centerfield.  Alescio's first home run of the year would give the Waves a 4-3 lead.  Ocean State would add another in that inning when Honeymann scored again on an RBI single from Kanemaru.  Heading into the bottom of the tenth the Waves were up 5-3.

Cody Carroll, who was on the bump for the Waves in the tenth, labored into a no men on, runners on the corners situation.  Plymouth's Venuto grounded into a double play and the Waves would trade a run for two outs.  Carroll then would strikeout Wyatt to win the game 5-4.

The Waves are now 5-1 on the 2017 season and 2-0 in extra inning games.   They are on the road to take on the Valley Blue Sox tonight in Holyoke, Massachusetts with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
