Waves lose after a dominating performance by the Sanford Mainers
Sanford, NH- Entering the game the Ocean State Waves were 9-13 and the Sanford Mainers were 9-12 with both teams trying to get closer to .500. Over the course of the last couple of games the Waves have struggled whether it be pitching or not being able to hit with runners in scoring position.
The Waves got off to a slow start with giving up a run in the first inning and then another in the 5th inning. Their starter Joe Sheets only went 4 innings but only gave up a run. After 5 innings the Waves were down 2 and then the 6th inning came around and the Mainers scored 4 runs which just gave the Waves a sense of lost hope however if things seemed as if things couldn't get worse they gave up another 2 runs in the 7th and the 8th.
In this game the Waves only had 5 hits and had 2 errors but gave up 10 runs so nothing was really working for the Waves, however the Waves ended up putting 2 position players into pitch with Alex Ramirez making his 2nd appearance on the mound and Kyle Maves making his debut.
After this difficult loss to Sanford the Waves are now 9-14 and with Sanford wins their record improves to 10-12 and hoping their season changes around. This is now the 4th straight loss in a row this season.
One thing the Waves have been struggling with is their consistency within their pitching staff and their bats, where the entire team has been struggling. Over the last couple weeks or so the key for the Waves success has been stolen bases where as of late they have either been caught stealing or not been aggressive on the base paths.
