Former Ocean State Wave Signs with Los Angeles Angels

WAKEFIELD, RI - Just as the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft wrapped up, the Ocean State Waves celebrated another former player signing with the Los Angeles Angels on July 12.
Will McGillis played one season with the Waves and four years at Southern Mississippi before finishing his collegiate career with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
During his 2019 season with the Waves, McGillis played 32 games and moved from shortstop to second base frequently. He boasted a .886 fielding percentage while playing for over 234.2 innings. McGillis had 96 at-bats, driving in 12 RBI on 18 hits and scoring 13 times.
Throughout his college career, McGillis played in 222 games with 724 at-bats, driving in 143 RBI on 185 hits, and hitting 44 home runs.
In the 2023 season, McGillis hit 14 home runs, scored 29 runs, had 30 RBI, and finished with a batting average of .313.
