McHugh, Reynolds Dominate in Week Seven
Now that the calendars have turned and the temperatures continue to rise, the 2025 Waves season feels closer than ever, and our guys are continuing to dominate their collegiate seasons. After a productive weekend of collegiate baseball, two of our guys showed out in outstanding performances on the weekend, to earn Player of the Week honors. On the mound is returning Wave Ryan McHugh, and at the plate, Kolton Reynolds earns his second Player of the Week recognition.
On the bump, sophomore Ryan McHugh made a big impact in the Crimson’s lone win over Yale to earn Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors. The returning Wave threw for two innings, allowing only two hits, while recording four strikeouts and no walks or runs. Despite dropping the series, McHugh’s Friday performance earned the Crimson a Friday night victory, and was credited with the save.
At the plate, junior Kolton Reynolds had another incredible week, being the first player this season to earn Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week honors twice. The Huntsville, Arkansas native blasted five home runs, including two in back-to-back wins against Milligan, and one in a midweek matchup with Georgia Gwinnett. He totaled seven hits on the week, with a double, and drove in 10 runs, and scored 7 himself. This outstanding performance helped the Bulldogs to a 2-2 finish on the week, improving to 26-9 overall.
Our guys are crushing it in their young seasons, and we’re so proud of their accomplishments! We are beyond excited to have them joining us at Old Mountain this summer. For real-time updates on your favorite current and former Waves, follow along on our Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves!
