Early lead gives the South Bay Storm easy victory over the Sacramento Heat, 11-5
The South Bay Storm (21-16) shut the door early on the Sacramento Heat (12-24), capturing an 11-5 victory on Saturday at McAuliffe Field.
Six runs in the first three innings allowed the South Bay Storm to put the game away early.
An error, an RBI single by Zane Gelphman, and an RBI single by Reed Oster during the first inning and a solo home run by Jason Marley and a two-run error in the second inning supplied the early offense for the South Bay Storm.Latrell Harris reached base three times in the game for the South Bay Storm. He doubled in the seventh inning.
Adam Finlay had two extra-base hits for the Sacramento Heat. He tripled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Even though Dalton Grisell allowed five runs over six innings he still recorded the victory, his second of the season. Grisell struck out five, walked none and gave up 10 hits.
Timothy Mendonca was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked seven and struck out five.
