Hockey Northwestern Ontario Releases Return To Hockey Framework
THUNDER BAY, Ontario – Hockey Northwestern Ontario is excited to release the framework for the Return to Hockey. HNO’s Return to Hockey Framework has been approved, and we are ready to lace up the skates and get back on the ice.
Thank you to all of our players, coaches, administrators, parents, and volunteers for your patience during this unprecedented time. We know you have been waiting eagerly for news on a return to hockey, and we are ready to share our plan.
HNO’s full Return to Hockey Framework can be found here: Return to Hockey – COVID-19 Response.
Within the Return to Hockey Framework, HNO has provided a detailed phased approach to reintroduce hockey activities. The safety of all participants will continue to be the number one priority. The Return to Hockey Framework is fully endorsed by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the Northwestern Health Unit and balances the needs of all individuals within the game.
“We are excited to release our Return to Hockey Plan. On March 12, 2020 when hockey was cancelled from coast to coast to coast, we at HNO have been looking forward to the day where we could present our Return to Hockey. It’s been a long time coming and although the release is later in the summer than we would have liked, it was extremely important that we got our Framework right and received endorsements from both the Northwestern Health Unit and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to ensure we have a framework in place that will keep everyone involved safe as we return to hockey.” – Jason Perrier, HNO President
As this framework is fresh in everyone’s mind, we encourage all to be patient as Associations review the framework and plan accordingly for the start of the season.
Thank you again to everyone for your patience during these uncertain times. We look forward to seeing you all back out on the ice!
