Intern Testimonials
"Getting a chance to work for the Mainers as an intern was an experience for me that I don’t believe will be topped. From the first day it was an amazing experience that continued to get better as the season went on. The people I got a chance to work with were some of the easiest I have worked with and I am grateful that those same people have become friends of mine. I grew professionally and personally during the summer with the Mainers. This internship was an amazing first step for me into the professional world."
Ethan Snow - Public Address Announcer/Radio Station Producer, 2022
"My experience interning with the Sanford Mainers is one that I will cherish forever. During my time with the team, I can confidently say that I not only grew as a photographer, graphic designer and social media manager, but I also grew as a person. The highlight of every game day for me was interacting with different people, whether it was with interns, volunteers, staff, players, coaches, host families or fans. By the end of the summer I gained so many meaningful relationships in the community that will last a lifetime.
Upon completing my summer with the Moose, I have a greater appreciation for everything that goes into coordinating a successful sports team and I feel extremely prepared to tackle similar tasks at the professional level. I am so grateful for the Sanford Mainers for such a rewarding experience, and I highly recommend this internship to anyone who many be considering!"
Emmy Vitali - Photographer & Social Media Coordinator, 2022
"My internship with the Mainers was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. I never thought I would enjoy a job I’ve never done before as much as I did. This organization from the top to bottom does everything with expertise and the upmost class. This hidden gem at Goodall Park in little Sanford, Maine is a must-see event when the Mainers are in town. This summer I made so many connections with players, coaching staff, interns and more, that I know I will have co-workers, and most importantly friends for life. An internship with the Mainers is an experience that I am so grateful for and one I'll never forget."
Kobie Carter - TrackMan Data & Operations/Analytics Specialist, 2022
"My time with the Sanford Mainers helped me jump start my career after graduating. This experience was memorable and I'm grateful for all that I learned from the Mainers. It's hard work taking pictures at away and home games, but in the end it was very rewarding. I was able to hone my skills and become a better photographer. It also helps having an amazing team that supported you, not only the other interns, but the Mainers as well. As others have stated if you want to learn how a sports organization is run, this is the place. You won't find another more passionate organization run by volunteers."
Remi Frisby - Photographer & Social Media Coordinator, 2019
"My experience with the Mainers last summer was one that will stay with me for a long time. The people are what make this experience such a fruitful one. Each person is extremely helpful and friendly, and they truly want all interns to develop as a professional during their time with the team. I was certainly nervous about my roles and responsibilities going into this experience, but it wasn't very long before it was second nature. That is a testament to the support that is such a major part of this team. As a result, I now have a variety of developed skills that I wouldn't have possessed otherwise without this internship."
Charles Barnard - Game-Day Operations & Promotions, 2019
"Interning with the Sanford Mainers for my two years with the organization was an amazing experience. Coming up to Maine from Massachusetts, I did not know anyone and they made me feel comfortable right away. everyone who works for the Mainers are so passionate about the organization. I have never seen a group of volunteers put so much time and energy into a program. They understand that internships are a learning experience. So much goes into running a baseball team and I got to see it first hand. If you want to get involved in a sports organization, this is where to start!"
Alex Fantasia - Summer Business Manager/Official Scorer, 2018
Game Day Operations, 2017
"Interning with the Mainers during the summer 2014 was an unforgettable experience. Growing up in the neighboring town of Wells, Maine, I had no idea how passionate the surrounding communities were about their summer baseball team. I have never seen such a smoothly operated group of volunteers - some who worked full time with families; business owners that dedicated their time and resources; and host families that opened their homes to complete strangers, yet ended the summer with lasting relationships.
I not only learned how much goes into running a baseball team, as well as what goes into each game, but saw how nonprofit operates firsthand. I gained valuable skills in the areas of sports broadcasting, interviewing, writing, operations, and made connections with professionals in the sports industry and the community. I'm very grateful to the Mainers organization for my experience!"
Katherine Quint - Game-Day Operations/Administrative Assistant, 2014
"The Sanford Mainers are a top notch organization and family. During my time there I grew as a broadcaster and a person. The aspect that was most rewarding for me, and in-turn benefited me the most, was writing the player bio's for the team's media guide. Since then I have had the honor of continuing to write in-depth player bio's at the Major League level and the experience of doing that with the Mainers prepared me.
I got to experience the grind of a baseball season. It was my first position with a summer league team, getting used to the demands of constant traveling, and the expectations of being on 'top of your game' on a nightly basis prepared me for my future."
Jeff Bowe - Director of Broadcasting & Media, 2014
"My time with the Mainers internship program was one of the highlights of my life. I was surrounded by friendly and supporting people who never hesitated to help when needed. The program gives a great look behind the scenes of a baseball team, giving a true sense of all the hard work that goes into running a team. If you work with this organization of hard working people, you'll come out better for it."
Peter Tallau - Official Scorer/Statistician, 2011-2013
