Each person is extremely helpful and friendly, and they truly want all interns to develop as a professional during their time with the team. I was certainly nervous about my roles and responsibilities going into this experience, but it wasn't very long before it was second nature. That is a testament to the support that is such a major part of this team. As a result, I now have a variety of developed skills that I wouldn't have possessed otherwise without this internship."

"Interning with the Sanford Mainers for my two years with the organization was an amazing experience. Coming up to Maine from Massachusetts, I did not know anyone and they made me feel comfortable right away. everyone who works for the Mainers are so passionate about the organization. I have never seen a group of volunteers put so much time and energy into a program. They understand that internships are a learning experience. So much goes into running a baseball team and I got to see it first hand. If you want to get involved in a sports organization, this is where to start!"

Game Day Operations, 2017

"Interning with the Mainers during the summer 2014 was an unforgettable experience. Growing up in the neighboring town of Wells, Maine, I had no idea how passionate the surrounding communities were about their summer baseball team. I have never seen such a smoothly operated group of volunteers - some who worked full time with families; business owners that dedicated their time and resources; and host families that opened their homes to complete strangers, yet ended the summer with lasting relationships.

I not only learned how much goes into running a baseball team, as well as what goes into each game, but saw how nonprofit operates firsthand. I gained valuable skills in the areas of sports broadcasting, interviewing, writing, operations, and made connections with professionals in the sports industry and the community. I'm very grateful to the Mainers organization for my experience!"

Katherine Quint - Game-Day Operations/Administrative Assistant, 2014

"The Sanford Mainers are a top notch organization and family. During my time there I grew as a broadcaster and a person. The aspect that was most rewarding for me, and in-turn benefited me the most, was writing the player bio's for the team's media guide. Since then I have had the honor of continuing to write in-depth player bio's at the Major League level and the experience of doing that with the Mainers prepared me.

I got to experience the grind of a baseball season. It was my first position with a summer league team, getting used to the demands of constant traveling, and the expectations of being on 'top of your game' on a nightly basis prepared me for my future."

Jeff Bowe - Director of Broadcasting & Media, 2014

"My time with the Mainers internship program was one of the highlights of my life. I was surrounded by friendly and supporting people who never hesitated to help when needed. The program gives a great look behind the scenes of a baseball team, giving a true sense of all the hard work that goes into running a team. If you work with this organization of hard working people, you'll come out better for it."
