David M. Ahern
November 2, 1987 - September 4, 2016
"Life is like a play. It's not the length, but the performance that counts."
David Ahern played for the Sanford Mainers in the summer of 2010 prior to his senior year at Babson College where he capped off his career by being named an All-American and conference MVP.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Dave can tell you that he was loved by everyone. He was a very likable and charismatic guy with an infectious personality. But not only was he very gifted athletically, he was an extremely humble and generous person with a heart of gold.
When it came to sports, Dave was a natural. he possessed all the attributed that make an exceptional athlete. He was effortlessly talented; he was as tough as nails; he was competitive; but most importantly, he was a guy that everyone wanted to have as a teammate.
Dave made it a point to always take time to mentor his younger teammates. He had such a passion for both baseball and hockey, but as good of an athlete he was, he was a better person. Every team should have a player like Dave, but I guess every team can't be so lucky.
