Memphis Warriors Win Atlanta Memorial Day Tournament
For the third straight year the Memphis Warriors are the 50+ divsion champions of the Billy Townsend Memorial Day Tournament held in Atlanta, GA. The Warriors defeated the Tuscaloosa Tornados 5-4 in the championship game. To get to the championship game the Warriors went 3-0 in pool play defeating the Memphis White Sox 9-3, DC Express 11-1 and the Tuscaloosa Tornados 6-1. The Warriors meet up with the Memphis White Sox in the semi finals and won 13-1.
Memphis players on the Warriors team included Antonio Jones, Howard Edwards, Charlie Grove, Bobby Hudson, Murphy Appling, Kevin Olds, Terry Fluker, Tim McClain and Leroy McClain.
The championship game featured two Memphis area pitchers going up against each other as Kevin Olds got the win for the Warriors and Glenn Mayfield taking the loss for the Tornados.
