Saratoga Brigade open 1st Season in NECBL on Thursday

June 3, 2013
8:00 PM EDT
SARATOGA SPRINGS - The season-opener is fast approaching for the Saratoga Brigade.

The Brigade open their first season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, on Thursday, against the Mystic Schooners, at 6:30 p.m., at East Side Rec, in Saratoga.

This will be an historic event, as it will be the first NECBL game ever played in the state of New York. The NECBL is a Major League Baseball-sponsored summer collegiate league designed to help players hone their skills, while also enhancing life in the communities of the league's franchises. For more info on the NECBL, visit necbl.com

With the first game less than 72 hours away, we wanted to inform you of times when you can get interviews or meet the team's players.

The Brigade will practice at East Side Rec on Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and on Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m, in advance of Thursday's home and season-opener.

Unfortunately, our whole team is not in Saratoga just yet, as some of the players are playing for schools that have reached the Super Regionals, in the NCAA tournament.

Our roster can be viewed at saratogabrigade.com. One local addition that isn't on the roster is Clifton Park native John Prendergast. A Shenendehowa graduate, Prendergast helped lead Ithaca College to the Division III World Series, by pitching to a 10-0 record, with a 2.04 ERA, as a sophomore.
