Former Mainer McDaniel Selected by Giants

SANFORD, Maine – 2022 Sanford Mainer Quinn McDaniel has been selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 153rd overall pick during the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

McDaniel appeared in 42 regular season games with the Mainers leading the team with 48 hits, eight home runs, 30 RBI, 33 runs scored and 28 walks.

The Maine native was named the starting second baseman of the North All-Star Team in his lone year with the green and yellow as he batted .308, which ranked second on the team, and slugged .538 while registering an on-base percentage of .417.

In three seasons with the University of Maine, McDaniel hit .321 with 32 home runs, 111 RBI and 159 runs scored. During his junior campaign in 2023, McDaniel hit .354 with 16 home runs, 45 RBI and worked an America East record 60 walks en route to a .513 on-base percentage as the Black Bears made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound infielder, was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team, NEIBA All-New England First Team and America East All-Conference First Team in 2023 after being named First Team All-New England and America East First Team All-Conference a year prior.
