Honorary General Manager, Stan Melton

Stan is a founder of the Missouri State Hockey Club as well as a founder of the Springfield Citizens Committee that advocated the construction of a recreational ice facility before Jordan Valley Ice Park (now Brightspeed Ice Park) opened in 2001.

Stan devoted his efforts to the off-ice operations of the Ice Bears team, including scorekeeping, business operations, sponsorship sales, media relations and general team operations before relinquishing his duties in July of 2015.

A native of Cassville, Stan is a graduate of the University of Missouri and is retired from Mediacom in Springfield. He is involved in a number of community activities, including serving as Steering Committee Chairman of the Ozarks Music Festival fall event, which raises funds for the Springfield Boys and Girls Clubs and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Stan also served as campaign consultant with the Tom Flanigan for State Representative campaign in the Carthage area. He is an avid hockey fan who attended 20 to 30 professional games a season before devoting his time to the Missouri State program. Stan serves as a WebSportsRadio.Com commentator during road games. He is married to Cindy McCall-Melton.

Team Co-founder, Curt Bussen

After serving as an assistant coach for the Ice Bears' first three seasons, Curt spent nine years in the role of assistant general manager before assuming the interim role of General Manager after co-founder Stan Melton relinquished his duties in 2015 - then stepped aside in 2016.

Curt, was primarily responsible for scheduling, website coordination and serving as liaison with the ACHA and MACHA.  Curt's hockey background includes youth, high school and adult competitive league hockey. He is also a founding member of the Capital Area Amateur Hockey Association in Jackson, Mississippi.

Originally from St. Louis, Curt attended Missouri State University and graduated with a degree in Marketing. He is a senior copywriter for The Marlin Company, a Springfield advertising firm. Curt and his wife, Cyndi, have two children, Cal and Macy.

General Manager, Ryan Armstrong

Ryan was named General Manager of Missouri State Hockey at the beginning of the 2018-19 season after serving five seasons as an assistant coach and briefly as Interim Head Coach. The third General Manager in Missouri State Hockey history, Armstrong has led the club on the bench and in the front office to 8 of its 9 National Tournament appearances.
 

A native of Chesterfield, Missouri, Armstrong is very familiar with the impact of players from the St. Louis area as well as various Junior Hockey leagues across North America. His knowledge and dedication to the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) have helped Missouri State Hockey become nationally recognized.
Armstrong resides in Springfield, Missouri.

Director of Broadcasting and Media, Steve Casson

The voice of the Ice Bears on WebSportsRadio.com, Steve took over webmaster duties before the 2008-2009 season. He has broadcast over 800 Ice Bears games on Springfield radio and the internet since the 2005-2006 season.

Steve added assistant manager duties in the 2014-15 season and recently scaled back those duties in 2018-19 to concentrate on broadcasting, team scheduling and remains a liaison with the American Collegiate Hockey Association. 

Steve has been the lead play-by-play broadcaster for the ACHA's 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Division III National Finals. Steve has also called games of the Division I Nationals in 2017 and 2018, Division II ACHA Regional playoffs since 2005, and Division II National Tournaments in 2009, 2010, and in 2014 and 2015 involving the Missouri State Ice Bears and other participating teams.

Steve was also honored to be the play-by-play broadcaster for games of the 2009-2010 Division II ACHA Select Team which traveled through five European countries - France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria - from December 27th, 2009 to January 7th, 2010.
