Player Education
The Ice Hawks are committed to the development of student athletes for College placement. The Ice Hawks emphasize college advancement as the primary goal of their development model and focus on the preparation of players to advance to and to succeed at the College level. The Ice Hawks developmental model includes the
program services of an Education Coordinator, classroom programming in personal/social development and a structured off ice program to develop individual personal discipline and good citizenship. Ice Hawks players receive the equivalent of a one credit college level course focusing on development of psycho-social skills for success in Jr. Hockey and at the College level. The Ice Hawks strive to prepare skilled and highly motivated hockey players who are also prepared to excel off the ice as competent and socially responsible persons.
Jamie Patrick, Education Coordinator
As the Ice Hawks educational coordinator, Jamie supports student athlete growth through guiding the players in pursuit of their education goals. . Jamie was, herself, a student athlete through high school into Division 1 collegiate athletics. Her educational background is in education administration. She holds a Minnesota Principals license and well as a Special Education Directors license. Jamie currently is a special education supervisor. Jamie and her husband Derek have three children. They are an active family who loves to be outdoors, spending time on the water and are involved in many different activities and sports.
Jamie assumes responsibility for monitoring the educational progress of all players attending high school, college classes, and online coursework while they participate in the Ice Hawks program. She assists student athletes by tracking progress during the
season and works with the schools’ academic advisors to assure academic progress. Jamie collaborates with players and their families to prepare for coursework that meets NCAA Clearinghouse requirements for college bound athletes. In addition, she assists with preparing players for college entrance exams (ACT/SAT ) and NCAA
Clearinghouse procedures.
