DAI Restore Roster Leak of The Week
Bobcat and Lion Team up in Newport
Published By: Ryan Greaney
NEWPORT, RI- In this edition of the DAI Restore Roster Leak of the Week, we take a look at two right-handed pitchers, Chase Renner and Kevin Seitter.
Chase Renner (Penn State) who calls Alburtis, Pennsylvania home, started all four years for Brandywine Heights High School from 2017-2021. In an impressive career, Renner was a team captain and was named to the All-Division team twice.
In his senior season he went 5-1 with a .60 ERA, recording 67 strikeouts over 35 innings, earning All-Conference Team and Conference MVP honors along the way. Renner then committed to play college ball for the Penn State Nittany Lions, ranking in the state of Pennsylvania's Top 25 Prospects and a Top 15 Pitcher in the state by Perfect Game USA.
Renner’s collegiate debut came on February 19 against Long Island University. As a True Freshman for Penn State this season, he has thrown in a total of three games thus far including a scoreless inning on March 20th against the Milwaukee Panthers, picking up a strikeout as well.
Standing at 6’4” 205lbs, Renner features a fastball in the low 90’s and will continue to mature prior to his arrival at Cardines Field this upcoming summer.
Kevin Seitter (Quinnipiac) is a Ridgewood, New Jersey native, competing for his hometown Ridgewood High Maroons prior to committing to Quinnipiac. As a senior in 2019 he was named a Preseason All American and landed a spot on the All Region Team. On May 31, 2019 Seitter threw a no hitter on his way to a third consecutive Sectional Title. Seitter ranked as a Top 50 pitcher in New Jersey by Perfect Game USA.
As a Freshman for the Bobcats, Seitter unfortunately had his season cut short by the ongoing pandemic. He was able to appear in four games before the season ended, and made his first collegiate start in a win at Kennesaw State on March 11, 2020.
Seitter retook the field in 2021, appearing in six games (three starts) and finishing the year 2-0 over 20.2 innings pitched. When all was said and done, Seitter ranked second on the team in strikeouts (32) and first in opponent batting average (.182), also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for his performance in the classroom and on the baseball diamond. Following his sophomore campaign, Seitter played summer ball for the New Britain Bees of the Futures League. For the Bees in 2021 he pitched 56 innings, holding a 3.05 ERA with 63 strikeouts to just 19 walks.
So far this spring, Seitter has started six games for the Bobcats, picking up 24 strikeouts over 31.2 innings and is a key member of the team’s pitching staff.
