Media Information and Access

The Newport Gulls Baseball Club accomodates all reasonable media requests to the best of our ability. The team operates its own in-house media division and television broadcast operations department, and limited space is available for visiting media, photographers, videographers and writers on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority is given to visiting media from other NECBL teams and the league office, local print, web and broadcast media that provides regular coverage of the Newport Gulls, and regional media outlets. In addition to authorized local media, the Newport Gulls accepts credentials from the NECBL and its teams, the NCAA, Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball and the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Media Requests

All media requests should be directed through the team's Director of Media Relations, Director of Baseball Operations or the General Manager. Requests for credentials for individual game coverage should be made in advance by phone, fax or email. Requests for season credentials are subject to review by the Newport Gulls and may be revoked at any time once granted. All media personnel are expected to abide by standard press etiquette and be non-disruptive in the course of their duties towards fans, players, team staff, guests and to Cardines Field.

Requests for Internet and printing access at Cardines Field, and requests for interviews with team personnel, should be made at least 48 hours in advance. Requests for radio and television broadcasts should be made at least 72 hours in advance, and with the understanding that the team's in-house broadcast crew has priority for camera locations, outlets and space.

Local and visiting media have unrestricted access to players and coaches at Cardines Field on the infield only following the post-game team meeting after regularly scheduled home games. Media personnel are not permitted to request interviews of players and coaches in the post-game barbeque pavillion, in the dugouts, or other areas of the field and stadium without prior permission. Requests for interviews with a member of the visiting team should be made through the appropriate representative of that team.

Please contact the Director of Game Day Operations or the Newport Gulls Front Office for pregame, batting practice, infield and outfield practice schedules, pregame ceremony, first pitch, national anthem, baseball buddies, or expected VIP/guest information, or to request interview time with players and coaches prior to a game.

Media Credentials

Media requesting game-day credentials are asked to pick them up at the Newport Gulls Front Office during business hours, or at Cardines Field after 4 p.m. on game days. Arrangements can be made to also leave credentials for pick-up at the Cardines Field Ticket Booth on game days, open from 5 p.m. until the end of the 6th inning.

Press Parking

There is limited free parking available on West Marlborough St. along the 3rd base line of Cardines Field. Paid parking is also available across the street, and across America's Cup Ave. at the Newport Gateway Visitors Center. Parking is $2 with a game ticket. Media needing other accomodations for parking, including free parking or parking adjacent to Cardines Field for loading and unloading equipment, should contact the Newport Gulls to make arrangements no less than 48 hours in advance.

Press Box

The Cardines Field Press Box is located directly behind home plate, taking up the top two rows of grandstand seating from left to right. Table seating is available for a visiting team broadcaster, 2-person visiting team radio or television broadcast and/or writers, and other media personnel on a limited basis given on priority and need as determined by the Press Box Manager. The Press Box area is limited to members of the media, broadcast personnel and Newport Gulls front office personnel and team staff, and is off-limits to all those without credentials.

Press Packets and Game Notes

Press packets and game notes, including media guides, biographical rosters and printed statistics for both teams, are available beginning no later than 2 hours prior to the scheduled first pitch. Starting lineups are available no later than 30 minutes prior to the first pitch.
