YOUTH WINTER CLINICS ARE BACK! The Newport Gulls are proud to announce that our extremely popular Youth Winter Clinics are returning for their fourth year of operation! In partnership with University of Rhode Island Baseball, boys and girls ages 8-12 will learn from an innovative Division 1 Baseball Program and a URI Coaching Staff in conjunction with Gulls coaches and players- the Major League Stars of Tomorrow!
This year's clinics will be held in the Rams state-of-the-art indoor facility on campus. Weather permitting, participants will have access to the home of URI’s Baseball facility, fully artificially turfed and recently renovated Bill Beck Field, located at 3 Keaney Rd. Kingston, RI 02881.
There will be three sessions, all of which to be on Sundays in December from 9:00am-12:00pm on 12/15, 12/22, and 12/29.
Members of the 13- team New England Collegiate Baseball League, the Gulls have won a league-leading eight championships and are on the hunt for their third consecutive title! Having produced 30+ Major League Baseball players, including alumni such as two-time World Series Champions, (2020 and 2024) Catcher Will Smith, Outfielder Chris Taylor, and Gold Glove Winner and 2024 World Series Champion, Utility Player Tommy Edman (Los Angeles Dodgers) and former #1 Overall Pick Mark Appel are among Gulls alumni currently active in the MLB.
Members of the 2023 and 2024 NECBL Champion Gulls will pair with the URI Coaching Staff as instructors for the clinics.
*UPDATE* - The Gulls are extremely happy to welcome back Rhode Island natives and 2021 Gulls Alumni: pitcher Bo Brutti (South Kingstown), and infielder Cal Parrillo (Johnston)! Following his playing career at the University of Rhode Island, Brutti currently works as an Assistant Coach on the URI Baseball Staff, and Parrillo focuses on finishing his final year of eligibility at Rhode Island College! Also joining the Coaching Staff for the first session of the Winter Clinics (December 15th) is former Gulls champion (2023 & 2024) Luke Beckstein! Luke was the Gulls' second baseman on the 2023 Championship team, and was one of the Gulls' Assistant Coaches of the 2024 Championship team! Luke currently works as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Kansas State Baseball, and will serve as the Manager of the Worcester Bravehearts (Futures Collegiate Baseball League) for the 2025 summer season! Be sure to check back in on this page for more coaching announcements to come!
Clinics cost $325.00 for all three sessions or $125.00 for each individual session. Participants will receive a special Newport Gulls T-Shirt & Gulls Hat. All skill levels are welcome to attend!
There will be an emphasis on teaching and maintaining fundamental skills during the winter months. Pitching, hitting, and fielding, along with conditioning drills will all be introduced during the three sessions, providing great value even if attendance on all dates is not possible.
