Ice Hawks can't hold lead

LITTLE FALLS — The Rochester Ice Hawks held a 1-0 lead after two periods Friday night against the Minnesota Flying Aces.

But the Ice Hawks couldn't hold the lead, and the Flying Aces scored three times in the third period for a 3-1 victory.

Kenny Ree gave the Ice Hawks the lead with a tally in the second period. Dan Trageser had the lone assist at the 7:28 mark.

The Flying Aces tied it 8:35 into the third period, and they got the game-winner at 13:44. They added an empty-net goal at 18:45.

The Ice Hawks held a 31-26 edge in shots on goal.

Zach Mains suffered the loss in net, recording 28 saves on 30 shots.

Former Rochester Mayo teammates Dylan Boysen and Austyn Renn mixed it up the second period, dropping the gloves at the 15:35 mark.

The Ice Hawks dropped to 10-25-1 overall, while the Flying Aces improved to 10-23-2. Rochester returns to action tonight at La Crosse.
