OREGON, Wis. — The Rochester Ice Hawks dropped their fourth consecutive game, suffering a 5-3 loss to the Wisconsin Whalers on Thursday night.

The Ice Hawks fell to 10-27-1 during their first season of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League. They sit in fourth place in the Central Division standings, and the top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs.

Rochester rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at 2-all in the second period. But the Whalers scored the next three goals to pull away.

Trey McMillen and Andrew Gates scored for the Ice Hawks in the second period. Hunter Heightland and Dominik Bogdzuil assisted on McMillen's tally, and Evan Sabo and Bogdzuil picked up the helpers on Gates' goal.

McMillen scored Rochester's final goal with just eight seconds remaining. Nick Paulson and Colin Hass had the assists.

Kyle Plantz suffered the loss in goal. He recorded 39 saves on 43 shots. The Whalers held a 44-20 edge in shots on goal.

Rochester native Tommy Hanson had an assist for the Whalers.

The Ice Hawks return to action Saturday at home against the division-leading North Iowa Bulls.
