Junior hockey: Ice Hawks drilled in second period
WHITE BEAR LAKE — The Rochester Ice Hawks were dominated again on Saturday, falling to the Twin City Steel 11-4 in North American Tier 3 Hockey League play.
The Ice Hawks were out of the game in a hurry, down 2-0 after the first period and then 9-1 after the second.
Rochester allowed 26 shots in the middle frame and 47 for the game. The Ice Hawks peppered the Steel goalie plenty themselves, with 40 shots for the game. Twenty-five of them came in the third period.
Fritz Belisle, Joe Costello and Yannick Zehnder all had two goals for Twin City.
Griffen Buck, Colby DeCarlo, Trey McMillen and Evan Sabo all scored for Rochester. Dominik Bogdzui had four assists for the Ice Hawks.
It was a weekend sweep for the Steel, who also beat the Ice Haws 8-2 on Friday in Rochester.
Kyle Plantz was the Ice Hawks goalie, going the distance. It was Rochester's eighth straight loss. It falls to 10-30-1 overall.
The Ice Hawks play next Friday at the North Iowa Ice in Mason City.
