Junior hockey: Ice Hawks no match for Bulls
MASON CITY, Iowa — The North Iowa Bulls looked every bit like the defending USA Hockey Tier III, Junior A national champion on Friday night, much as they have all season.
The Bulls scored six first-period goals and rolled to an 11-2 North American 3 Hockey League victory against the Rochester Ice Hawks at North Iowa Ice Arena.
The Bulls continued their domination against the entire league, improving to 37-2-3. Rochester dropped to 10-31-1.
Former Rochester John Marshall standout Nick Paulson scored both of the Ice Hawks' goals. Dominik Bogdzuil, Hunter Heightland and Trey McMillin had one assist each.
North Iowa outshot Rochester 56-26.
Kohei Sato led the Bulls with a hat trick. Brett Gravelle added two goals. Connor Bump, Sean Mallonee, Joe Burgmeier, Adam Orn, Owen Larson and Eric Piatt had one each.
The Ice Hawks play at North Iowa again tonight at 7:30 p.m.
