The 4th of July means has many significances in the United States. This year, north of the border, the 2012 birth-year Team PA squad will celebrate Independence Day on the ice opening play at the Brick Tournament in Edmonton. After the 2011s set a high bar for team hockey and effort, the 2012s will finally have their chance to take the ice against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday (7/4) at 12:30pm MT/2:30pm ET. 

"The 2012's are fired up and ready to go!", said Coach Edwards. "Our team has a strong low game that, if we get to, can make other teams really have to work in the defensive zone. We will rely on that heavily this week. We have a tough task ahead with a very skilled Montreal team. They have some high skilled forwards that we will need to be ready for!"

Following the opening day of play, Team Pennsylvania will face a difficult test with a Canadian doubleheader on Tuesday against Team British Colombia and then will do battle with the hosts, Team Brick Alberta. 

Games on Wednesday against the Connecticut Jr. Rangers and Thursday against the Boston Jr. Bruins will test the team's stamina in the preliminary round before wrapping up the opening round with a Friday night matchup with the Saskatchewan Jr. Pats. 

Each year at the tournament, Team PA has shown improvement and has never been easy to play against with great structure, forecheck and goaltending. The 2012s look forward to continuing that trend in Edmonton. Good luck to all the boys and have fun!
