Team PA Falls to Montreal Canadiens to Open Tournament Play
Team Pennsylvania opened tournament play on Monday with a tough loss to the Montreal Canadiens. In the third period, Gabriel Smart scored to bring the score to 2-1 with plenty of time left on the clock. Unfortunately, that was as close as Team PA would come in the game as Montreal tacked on several insurance goals in what ended up a 7-1 final.
"We found out what happens when we take our foot off the gas defensively today," said coach Edwards after the game.
"I thought overall the game was very competitive but after closing the gap to 2-1 in the third period, we in made some poor decisions that cost us. I also thought their goaltender played excellent making several big saves to keep their momentum. We will re-group, re-focus and get ready for BC tomorrow morning."
Team PA will be back in action early tomorrow morning with a 7:30am MT puck drop against team British Colombia. Later in the day, they will play the tournament hosts, Team Brick Alberta at 5:30pm MT.
