Team Pennsylvania was back in action on Monday to begin their journey at the 2024 BRICK Tournament in Edmonton. Team Minnesota was the opponent as this year’s group of boys finally got to take the ice at the West Edmonton Mall to get preliminary round action going!

Despite goals from Evan Gardner, Chase Dippold, Roman Saenz and Hank Coffield, the Keystone State fell just short of the Land of 10,000 Lakes in the opener, 7-4, a scoreline which included an empty net goal for Minnesota to put the game out of reach.

"First, congratulations to Minnesota,” said coach Trevor Edwards after the game. “They have a great team and made a lot of excellent plays today to get the win.”

Team Pennsylvania registered 24 shots in defeat. “I really liked our offensive game overall today,” continued Coach Edwards. “We worked hard on that side of the puck to generate a lot of chances throughout the game, and we never quit.”

Jackson Murray made 24 saves in net for Team PA and kept Minnesota at bay for much of the game.

“That same effort [on the offensive side of the puck] needs to be shown on the backcheck and in the defensive zone to make us tougher to play against. I thought our goaltender, Jackson Murray, was solid and made some huge saves to give us a chance to get back in the game.”

At an event like the BRICK Tournament, it’s important to move on and be ready for the next game. Coach Edwards continued, “We will regroup, learn from our experience today and get ready for tomorrow!”

Team Pennsylvania’s next game will be tomorrow, Tuesday, July 2 at 9:10 AM MT/11:10 AM ET against the Manitoba Jr. Ice. Good luck to the boys!
