Involvement of injured/non-active players with team

With a new hockey season upon us, we would like to remind our members of some important guidelines that must be followed by injured/non-active players who wish to remain involved with their teams. This does not apply to suspended players who are not permitted to be on the bench during the course of their suspension. If an injured/non-active player wishes to be on the bench during the game, that player must: • be listed on the official game sheet • wearing full equipment Teams are not permitted to use an affiliate player to replace the injured/non-active player if the injured/non-active player is with his or her team on the bench. In cases where the injured/non-active player is a goaltender, teams may only dress two goaltenders. If a third goaltender wishes to be on the bench, he or she must be dressed in protective gear (excluding goalie pads) and be included on the official game sheet as a player in uniform (not a goaltender). The total number of allowable players on the bench cannot be exceeded. We appreciate your cooperation and support in enforcing these important guidelines.

All the best to you and your team this season.

Sincerely, Michael MacDonald, Referee-in-Chief Stephen Murray, Female Council Chair Brian Wentzell, Minor Council Chair Hockey Nova Scotia

COACH/MANAGER OF THE YEAR 2018

Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup 2018

On behalf of Chevrolet and Hockey Canada, We are reaching out to you with an amazing opportunity for your Peewee teams called the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.

DESCRIPTION:

Chevrolet, in partnership with Hockey Canada, is excited for another year of the Good Deeds Cup to develop our future hockey players on and off the ice. The Good Deeds Cup is awarded to the Peewee team that has the best season off the ice. To win it, Peewee teams will compete to do the most impressive good deed in Canada.

To compete for the Cup, teams must create and submit a 1-Minute video that shows the good deed the team fulfilled in their community. Teams can submit their video at www.chevrolethockey.com.

A panel of judges will select the top 10 teams who did the best good deeds across the country to be the semi-finalists which will be announced on January 5th.  See below for an overview of the contest prizing and structure:

SEMI-FINALIST PRIZE (10 Teams):

1.       Branded Hockey Canada and Chevrolet items ($100 per player)

2.       $2000 for the team’s charity of choice

From January 15th to 28th, Chevrolet Canada’s YouTube channel will host the 10 semi-finalist videos. The 3 teams who receive the most views over the 2-week period become the Good Deeds Cup Finalists. Essentially, it is a “views equals votes” mechanism.

FINALIST PRIZE (3 Teams):

1.       Branded Hockey Canada and Chevrolet items ($100 per player)

2.       $5000 for the team’s charity of choice

Once the final 3 teams have been selected, a judging panel will select the winner based on a set of criteria. The winner of the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup will be announced in February.

CHAMPIONS PRIZE

1.       Branded Chevrolet/Hockey Canada swag items ($200 per player)

2.       1-min Feature on Broadcast Television

3.       A winner’s ceremony in the team’s home town with our program ambassadors

4.       $15,000 for a charity of the team’s choice

5.       A summer practice with a program ambassador

6.       A Good Deeds Cup championship banner to hang in the team’s home arena.

C LEVEL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

ATOM C - PEEWEE C - BANTAM C - MIDGET C

The C Level Championships are under the jurisdiction of the local MHA or the established league within an area or Region[s]. The MHAs and Leagues are encouraged to provide a positive experience for all players with consideration being given to the development of player skills and the promotion of player self- esteem.

The costs of the game and alternate choices for players and parents of players playing at the C level must be taken into consideration when this level of minor hockey is being designed within each Association or Region.

HNS will take measures to assist each MHA in DEVLOPING Programs and assisting coaches at these COMMUNITY levels.
