SEAN DONOVAN MOVES TO AUS
Congratulations to GBMH Alumni Sean Donovan who recently accepted an Assistant Coach position with ST. FX X-MEN
Former Glace Bay Minor Hockey Alumni graduate Sean Donovan received some “GOOD NEWS” in recent weeks as he has been appointed and reunited to his former St F.X. Hockey X-MEN’s team, as an Assistant Coach.
ST FX University Atlantic University Sports Hockey team has confirmed two “assistant coach appointments”. The new coaches will be Brian Casey, a ten year professional player, a former national team player and a player/assistant coach in Europe and former X-Men defenseman Sean Donovan.
Donovan, through his GBMH playing years was always a viewed as a “team player” in that he displayed strong defensive skill, poise and above all solid character which helped pave his way in hockey.
Sean’s greatest hockey success began to blossom in later years when his passion for the game guided him through tenures in the Maritime Junior “A” Hockey League and at the Atlantic Univeristy Sports Hockey level. Sean played his Junior “A” hockey career for the Antigonish Bulldogs form 2003-06. Next he played defense for the St. FX X-Men from 2006-2011 at the Atlantic Univeristy Sports Hockey level finishing his final year as “team captain”.
Immediately following his AUS hockey career he then dedicated his hockey interest to coaching the Cape Breton West Islanders Major Midget “AAA” hockey team. Sean’s coaching style produced several graduates who have been successfully drafted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League over recent years
GBMH applauds Sean’s Hockey Success and Wishes him All The Best in Future Years!
Special Note: Goaltender coach for this season will be Brad McCharles, who returns after joining the X-Men late last season. Brad previously spent time in working in Glace Bay, and co-ordinated our GBMH Goaltending Clinics for a couple of seasons. KUDOS to BRAD as well!
