GBMH player Ryland Hanrahan shared some photos of himself this past summer, when he attended Sidney Crosby's Hockey Camp.
Ryland Hanrahan plays on our Glace Bay MINERS Atom "AA" hockey team and is coached by Brian Oneill and Rob Sinclair.
Ryalnd's Hockey Camp experience went from July 11th-15th in Cole Harbour.
The Camp only selected 150 kids out of over 5000 applicants. Names were drawn with applicant participants appliying world wide for the opportunity to attend Sid's personal hockey school. The Camp focused on on ice training, off ice training and had special hockey guest speakers such as NHL players Sidney Crosby, Nathan Mackinnon and Andrew MacDonald.
Some of Ryland's fondest memories include:
Meeting other kids from all over the world
Having the opportunity to be at the on ice sessions and participating in all the drills with Crosby, MacKinnon and MacDonald
Experiencing 5 minutes to personally meet and talk with Crosby himself to get autographs, pictures and to chat generally.
Being able to share the special moment with Crosby when he brought the 2016 Stanley Cup to the Camp, and we had an opportunity to spend a few seconds with the CUP.
Advice From Crosby
- Keep working hard and never give up on your dreams of being a great hockey player.
- Eat Healthy and respect your coaches/fellow players. Crosby and Mackinnon commented on how fast of a skater I was which was awesome to hear.
- It was a great experience that I really enjoyed and that I will always remember. I really hope my friends also try to get this same experience...
GBMH thanks Ryland for sharing his great hockey experience of attending Crosby's Hockey Camp and we wish him the Best of Luck this season playing on our ATOM AA hockey team.
