PLAYER PROFILE
Born: May 3, 1990 Height: 6’0” Weight: 205 Shoots: Left
Clay was no stranger to Adanacs fans when he joined the team last summer, having displayed his considerable talent and tenacity (standing up for his teammates, intense and hard-hitting on defense and never backing down from anyone) for the Maple Ridge Burrards for four seasons before coming to the Adanacs in a trade.
Born and raised in Coquitlam, Clay played all of his Minor lacrosse, starting in Tyke, in Coquitlam and played two years for the Junior A Adanacs, earning his Minto Cup ring in 2010 (a Minto Cup ring being harder to earn than a Mann Cup ring, in fact). A defense and transition specialist, Clay’s Junior A stats included 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points with 35 PiM in 41 games. Clay was drafted by Maple Ridge and, in 62 games with the Burrards, he notched 6 assists for 6 points with 71 PiM, playing in the Mann Cup with the Burrards in Ontario in September of 2016 (where blatant cheating in favour of the Ontario team shameless). In ten games last year, he earned one assist with 36 PiM.
Clay says, “I’m happy to be back playing for Coquitlam where I started.” We’re happy, too. As our veteran head trainer, Bill Randall, said, “He’s the kind of player you win with.” Clay also played football at UBC (he did not divulge his course of studies, occupation or career plans). He coaches minor girls’ box lacrosse in Port Moody. He lives with girlfriend, the lovely Catherine Worley. His favourite movie is “Pulp Fiction”. He enjoys performances and music by Metallica. He plays bass in the band “Scotty P and the Virgins”.
