PLAYER PROFILE
Born: February 10, 1997 Height: 5’10” Weight: 170 Shoots: Left
The Adanacs counted their lucky stars for being able to select Parker in this winter’s WLA draft, perhaps because due to injury he was only able to play three games in the 2017 season and was unable to play any games in what would have been his final year of Junior A lacrosse last summer, and might have slipped under the radar, though that’s hard to understand given his lacrosse creds till then. Born in New Westminster, B. C., Parker was raised in Surrey and first played lacrosse in Langley as a Mini Tyke, inspired to do so by his father, who had played Junior A and Senior A lacrosse. Parker has a deadly aim from inside and out, and was a go-to guy for the Port Coquitlam Saints in the BCJALL, scoring 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 15 regular season games and a goal and 7 assists for 8 points in 5 playoff games, with no PiM (but don’t take him lightly). He cites his career highlights to date as mostly from his collegiate career at the University of Indianapolis, where he led his team in points and goals in ALL FOUR YEARS, being named to the USIL Team of the Week 5 times, the USIL All Star Team and a Third Team All American. He just graduated with Marketing degree and is currently working as a Marketing Coordinator. He’s not one to boast, so here’s how he’s extolled on the UIndy website: “Recent UIndy graduate and men's lacrosse alumni Parker Kump continues to add awards to his impressive four-year career as a Greyhound, earning United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-American status, the organization announced on Thursday. Kump is one of 21 student-athletes who received recognition based on their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom. The Surrey, British Columbia product is coming off a 2019 campaign that concluded with USILA Third-Team All-America honors after totaling 83 points on 61 goals and 22 assists. Kump finished his UIndy tenure with 211 points, including 166 goals, both of which are top the program record book. The attacker holds four of the top five single-season marks for goals, and four of the top eight in single-season point totals. Kump was recently named a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Academic All-Conference recipient.” I was also impressed (but not at all surprised, since I’ve known Parker for three years) with his calm confidence and intelligence when interviewed as a freshman (!!) after a stunning win: UIndyAthletics Published on Apr 7, 2016, Freshman Parker Kump sits down with UIndy Athletics to talk about the Greyhounds' stunning 9-7 win against No. 6 Lake Erie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnNSoTvsN0E *** In his first six games in this, his rookie WLA season, Parker has scored 4 fine goals with 6 assists. Parker says, “My hobbies consist of hunting, fishing, playing golf, and hanging out with friends. I’ve been dating my girlfriend, Veronica since 2013. My dad is most influential person in my lacrosse career.”
