Matt was drafted by the Adanacs in 2014 and enjoying his fifth season in Adanac colours. Born and raised in Port Moody, he was first introduced to lacrosse at the age of seven. Inspired to play through family and friends, he played ten years of minor lacrosse in Port Moody before playing Intermediate and Junior A lacrosse in Port Coquitlam. In his last Junior season, he was traded at the deadline to the Coquitlam Adanacs to play in the Minto Cup. He was a prolific scorer in 65 Junior A games, scoring 77 goals with 85 assists for 162 points with 20 PiM. He was awarded the Keith McEachren Trophy as the BCJALL Most Sportsmanlike Player in 2011. Matt played field lacrosse on a scholarship at Seton Hill University where he was a three-time All American and team captain for the Griffins. He still holds the Seton Hill record for most goals and most points scored! He was drafted by the Vancouver Stealth in 2014 and spent one year on the practice roster with that team. A firefighter by trade, he has also started playing hockey and baseball with the fire department. Matt’s WLA stats through 2018 included 55 goals and 86 assists for 141 points and only 8 PiM in 67 games. Matt enjoys traveling “anywhere warm with a good beach” but he also enjoys camping in the summer and snowboarding in the winter, so he’s not tempted to move away from the Lower Mainland any time soon (or so we hope!). “Friday Night Lights”, “Training Day” and “Departed” are among his favourite movies and his favourite music genre is country. His favourite food is sushi, but he likes getting in a pasta dish before games. Matt says the people most influential in his lacrosse career so far include his family and Seton Hill Coach Brian Novotny.
