PLAYER PROFILE

Born:  March 21, 1992          Height:  6’2”          Weight:  200 lbs.         Shoots:  Right

The Adanacs prepared long in advance to be able to pick Tyler first overall in the WLA draft this February.  Well aware of his hard work and commitment to transform himself from an obviously skilled, intelligent, natural leader into a, well, a grown man with great strength, power, mobility and judgment, and the years of service his parents gave on the Senior Adanacs executive, Tyler was in all respects the natural first choice.

Tyler played NCAA lacrosse at Dominican University of California before returning home after only one year.  He decided instead to attend school in BC and declare for the NLL draft.  He declared for the draft a year early and was selected 11th overall to the Washington Stealth.  That year, the Stealth returned to the Champions Cup but lost a tight 11-10 contest to the Rochester Knighthawks.  During his two years in the NLL, Tyler has played in every game and has amassed 13 goals and 21 assists in 34 regular season games.  This past year, Tyler was second in the NLL in both forced turnovers (36) and goals by defensemen (9).  He also led the Stealth in loose balls with 106.  His two years of gritty and effective play in the NLL with the Vancouver Stealth naturally honed his skills and gave him valuable experience at the highest level of the game.

He’s merged smoothly into his role as a most versatile member of this exciting squad of enthusiastic, athletic and highly skilled young players and a diverse mix of award-winning veterans, capable of playing defense, transition and offense with great effect.

Born in Coquitlam, Tyler first played lacrosse at age 3 and played all of his minor, intermediate, and junior lacrosse for Coquitlam. Tyler was named captain of the Junior Adanacs in only his second year on the team.  As captain, he led his team to back-to-back Provincial titles and Minto Cup tournament appearances. Tyler’s Junior A stats included 44 goals and 33 assists for 77 points and 161 PiM (he is assertive) in 69 games.

Tyler is currently attending BCIT and will receive a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, specializing in corporate finance, next year.  He is hoping to attend law school after graduation.  His other sports interests include hockey, football, and golf.  He also enjoys listening to music, playing his guitar, snowboarding and hanging out at the beach.  His favorite foods are ribs, chicken, steak and salmon.  His pre-game meal is mom's pasta with chicken. Tyler’s favorite movies are “Superbad”, "Training Day" and "The Longest Yard".  His favourite novels are "Scar Tissue" and "The Dirt".  He loves all music but especially country and rock.

Tyler says, “The people with the greatest influence on my career so far are my parents and junior coach Curt Malawsky
