PLAYER PROFILE
Born: January 4, 1996 Height: 6’1” Weight: 195 Goalie, Lefty
Andrew was born in Surrey but raised in Coquitlam, where he first played lacrosse at age 3. He says, “I was inspired by my dad and the physicality and action of the game. I was always around the rink watching Senior A Adanac’ growing up and watching my dad play. His minor lacrosse highlights included being a Team BC peewee national champion, playing on the Peewee nationals All Star Team and earning the Top Goalie award, followed by being honoured as 2014 Goalie of the year and a First Team All Star team selection playing for the Intermediate A Port Coquitlam Saints 2014 provincial champions. The Adanacs were fortunate to be able to select him in the first round of the WLA Junior draft this February and know that he will be a standout in goal for many years in the WLA. Last summer he played in goal for the Adanacs in 9 WLA games with a 77% save average. He played his first NLL games with the Vancouver Warriors in the 2018/2019 NLL season. Andrew’s other interests include camping and playing recreational sports with friends, and spending time with his girlfriend. He adds, “I love to read. My favorite book in middle school was Stetson by S.L. Rottman”, and in high school his favourite book school was the brilliant if rather grim “Thirteen Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. As for movies and music, he says, “I like comedies or any movie with Will Ferrell in it. I like to listen to almost any type of music.” Andrew currently works at Costco while in the process of earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Coaching at Douglas College. He aspires to be a teacher – he has the character, intelligence, patience, good heart and work ethic to be a fine teacher and mentor. He is currently the Coach representative of Douglas College where he works with the college to promote coaching throughout the school. Asked about the most important influences in his lacrosse career so far, Andrew says, “My mom and dad. My dad coached me from mini-tyke to Midget, and then my second year intermediate and all 3 years of Junior. My mom has always given me wonderful support and still does. I also want to thank Peter Tellis and Jordan Ditchfield, who were my first-year intermediate coaches in Coquitlam. They changed my life and helped me become the goalie and person I am today.
