Connar was born in Matsqui and raised in Abbotsford and Aldergrove.  He first played lacrosse at the ripe old age of 3, in Abbotsford, when many of his buddies were still trying to figure out how to tie their shoes.  He says he was inspired to play lacrosse because “I love the non-stop excitement; the game can change so fast.”  He made Team BC in midget while playing his first year of A1 in Langley.  An amiably humble fellow, I had to dig through Connar’s university website to find that he was awarded the MVP in the 2012 U-19 Tournament and won silver in 2013 Nationals with Team BC.  In 55 Junior A games for Langley in 2013 and 2014 and for Langley and Victoria in 2015, Connar scored 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points with 27 PiM.  Athletic, rugged, intelligent and mobile, Connar has already been a force on offense this summer, after two WLA seasons with the Langley Thunder, where his offensive talents were squandered, though he did score 5 goals and 3 assists for 8 points with 10 PiM in 27 games.  Connar attended Alderson Broaddus University on a full scholarship, where he was twice named to the ECAC Academic All-Star Team and was a Senior Captain, scoring 37 goals and 37 assists for 74 points with only 5 PiM in 53 games, all while completing an Associates Degree in Education.  Connar currently works with adults with special needs in a day program.  He also does private coaching and managed to find the time and energy to help start the West Coast Wolves travel team.  Connar says, “I love the outdoors, camping, lake days, hikes, all of it.  I’m not much of a reader.  My favourite movie is probably Coach Carter.  I like all types of music just depends what mood I’m in.”  When asked about the most important influences in his lacrosse career to date, Connar replied, “I believe that everyone I grew up playing with has gotten me to where I am today.  I owe a lot to my family for always believing in me and giving me the best opportunity to succeed.  My little brothers are my biggest influences, everything I do is to try and set an example for them.  Lastly, Dave Wilfong is one of the biggest reasons I am where I am today.  From my last year of midget lacrosse and ever since, he has always believed in me and he developed me into the lacrosse player I am today.”
